Remote Podcast Recording with StudioLink
StudioLink is a high-quality solution for remote telephone connections. It enables latency-free remote audio sessions in studio quality.
Quick Start (5 Steps)
Step 1: Connect audio interface/headset
You should record using closed headphones. If you do not use closed headphones, you could encounter audio feedback and voice echo issues. If you don’t have a closed headset, you can use in-ear headphones (from Apple, for example).
Step 2: Download and run StudioLink standalone version

Step 3: Select audio interface/headset
Open the “Interface” menu and use the Input and Output fields to select the audio device for recording (input) and playback (output).
In general, you can use the default input channel option provided. This channel is required for audio devices with multiple recording channels.
Similarly, you don’t need to change the option to select a driver because the correct one is preselected.
Hint : Whenever possible, connect your computer to the Internet via LAN cable to avoid latencies and static noise.
Hint : To achieve the best possible audio quality, use a headset with the best microphone you have.
Step 4: Test
After you’ve selected the audio interface, you can close the menu. You should be able to see the input level of you voice in the “Your signal level” section.
If this bar does not move when you speak, you might have selected the wrong input device or channel. Check your settings again in step 3.
In case the amplitude is consistently in the red range, you might be too close to your microphone or the microphone gain is too high. Ideally, the amplitude should stay in the green and yellow ranges.
To run a test, several test caller IDs are available:

When using the Echo Test account, your voice should be clear to understand with a slight latency. If you can’t hear your voice, check the selected audio interface and channel in step 3 “Select audio interface/headset”.
Step 5: Call & start recording
To start a new call, enter a participant’s caller ID in the “Enter Partner ID” field and press the “Call” button. You find your own caller ID under “Your ID“ .
Alternatively, you can just omit the part “@studio.link“ (enter “1234” instead of “1234@studio.link“).
Each StudioLink client is assigned a unique caller ID, which is displayed under “Your ID:” (e.g. 1234568@studio.link). Using this ID, the client can be reached externally and it works just like a classic phone call, except here the number is composed like an e-mail address. The unique caller ID is assigned the first time you start StudioLink and always remains the same.
Under my.studio.link (paid service) you can assign your client a personal ID of your choice (for example,“podcast@studio.link“).
Once the connection is established, press the “Record“ button to start a local recording.
